Computers are becoming faster and faster by each year that passes, but hardware alone is nothing without the software to make use of it. When you think of computers, you must think first of the software programs that run on these machines rather than the actual box hiding the components. Computers require data input from the user, data that will be used, transformed and saved as useful output data. Computer programming is the science of teaching computers how to process data to solve a certain problem, and of course, because of this, almost anyone should know basic computer programming. The majority of people use computers at their work places to ease and optimize their jobs and doing so would be impossible without the proper software programs. That is why the industry of computer software making is a very important one and it is regarded as one of the most important part of the entire computer industry. There is a constant need for software programmers to actually create the software programs that people will further use (no matter if we are talking about operating systems, useful software tools, specialized programs or even computer games), but the question that arises is if anybody can qualify for computer programming. Many people are trying to learn computer programming nowadays, but for different reasons. Some simply love their job as a computer programmer and try to perfection themselves, while others have heard that working in this segment can bring them good money and are trying to learn it for the income. However, many people soon discover that computer programming is not for them, as after studying many programming books, they still are not able to create a computer program and they have essentially wasted their time trying to learn something that does not suit them. Still, there is some good news, many kids nowadays simply fall in love with computer programming showing a really promising future of computer programming. There is more to computer programming than reading books. Indeed, computer programming books offer you the basic set of knowledge, but they cannot guarantee that you will be able to write down a piece of software after reading a programming book. You have to combine the information taken from books with experience in order to be able to think in a logical way required to assemble a computer program. Computer programming or information technology is nothing you can learn in just a few months of book reading to call you an expert. Only experience can do this. Other people are trying to learn computer programming because they find it interesting and have an idea of a program that they want to create. If you want o learn programming for yourself, you can go ahead and do so, but if you want to sell software, you can just as well hire a freelance programmer to write your program, leaving the marketing and selling effort to you. Simply put, there is no easy way of finding out if someone has what it takes to be a computer programmer. Some people learn it in two or three years, while others need more than five to master a programming language. Also, computer programming is very demanding, as new technologies appear every day and you have to know most of them to stay in touch with the segment. Yet, almost for anyone, basic computer programming should be easy enough. |
